II Symposium "Flow Analysis and Capillary Electrophoresis"

Professor Bogusław Buszewski is a Head of the Chair of Environmental Chemistry & Bioanalytics, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and of Center For Education & Research in Separation Methods & Bioanalytics.

He has been Humboldt Fellow at Tübingen University (Germany) and visiting professor at the universities in e.g. USA, Japan, China, UK, South Africa, Austria, the Netherlands and Taiwan. He is a chairman of the Committee of Analytical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and of the Central European Group for Separation Sciences (CEGSS). He is the president of the Societas Humboldtiana Polonorum, member of steering committee of Division of Environmental Chemistry of the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuCheMS), and member of Austrian Academy of Sciences. He serves as the member of editorial boards of 26 national and international journals and has authored or co-authored 15 books, numerous patents and more than 460 scientific papers. He was awarded by numerous national and international organizations, including the title doctor honoris causa of the University of SS Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. He was also awarded of the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.

Petr Kuban obtained his Ph.D. in 2000 from Stockholm University, Sweden. Between 2001 and 2004 he was a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Purnendu K. Dasgupta at Texas Tech University, USA, followed by a 6-year academic career at Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic. He then spent 2 years at Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia with Prof. Mihkel Kaljurand and currently works in the Bioanalytical Instrumentation group of CEITEC, Masaryk University in Brno. His main research interests are microcolumn separation techniques such as capillary electrophoresis, microcolumn ion chromatography and HPLC; sample pretreatment and preconcentration; miniaturization, microfluidics and development of novel analytical instrumentation for application in clinical diagnosis.

Assoc Prof Dr Cari Sänger - van de Griend received her MSc form Leiden University, the Netherlands. She did her PhD (DPharm) and habilitation at Uppsala University, Sweden, while working in industry. Cari is Associate Professor at Uppsala University, Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Tasmania and lectures ad interim at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is president of the Section Analytical Chemistry of the Netherlands Royal Society of Chemistry and Director and Board Member of CASSS.

Cari won the prestigious CEPharm award 2015 for sustained and significant contribution to the practical application of Capillary Electrophoresis to the analysis of biotechnology and pharmaceutical products for advocating tirelessly for scientifically sound CE method development, for enabling acceptance of CE in the pharmaceutical industry and for providing essential input to the community by teaching and otherwise sharing knowledge.

After more than 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry (Astra Pain Control, AstraZeneca, Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Abbott Healthcare Products), Cari Sänger now runs Kantisto BV, her own consultancy in analytical pharmaceutical chemistry. Cari's research interests include pharmaceutical and clinical analysis encompassing areas such as NCEs, protein therapeutics, viruses, biomolecular interactions, in-vivo in-vitro correlations, and implementing new technologies in industry, especially capillary electrophoresis, with a focus on the tiny details that matter. Implementation covers many aspects such as good working practices, QbD and analytical method life cycle management, protein and virus vaccine characterization, chiral separations etc.

Professor Petr Solich obtained his PhD. in 1985 at Charles University and is currently Vice-dean for strategic development and EU funds and Head of the Analytical Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Charles University in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. His research interests are automation of analytical procedures; flow methods (Flow Injection Analysis, Sequential Injection Analysis and Sequential Injection Chromatography); chromatographic methods (mainly UHPLC with sub-2-micron columns or use of monolithic columns) and modern sample-preparation methods, applied to pharmaceutical, environmental and bioanalytical analysis. He has published more than 210 research papers (h-index 31) and has been responsible for more than 25 research grants from different disciplines (pharmaceutical, environmental, bioanalytical). Currently is a principle investigator of  Charles University Research Centre "Study of Drugs and Other Biologically-Active Substances Perspective in Prevention and Treatment of Important Civilization Diseases". In 2009 received a FIA Award for Science from Japanese Association of Flow Injection Analysis, Division of Japan Society of Analytical Chemistry.

Professor Marek Trojanowicz was a head of the Laboratory for Flow Analysis and Chromatography, Department of Chemistry, University of Warsaw. After retirement in 2015 currently he is a professor of chemistry in Laboratory of Nuclear Analytical Methods, Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology in Warsaw. His research activity includes design of electrochemical sensors and biosensors, flow analysis, liquid chromatography and capillary electrophoresis for environmental, food and clinical analysis, application of ionizing radiation for water and waste treatment, and application of chemical analysis in archaeometry.

Profesor Trojanowicz was granted Visiting Professor positions in numerous universities all over the world, including University of Michigan, University of California at Riverside, University of Tasmania (Australia) and University of Sao Paulo (Brazil). He is author of about 300 scientific papers, 40 chapters in books and 2 monographic books. Recipient of Świętosławski Award of Warsaw University, Kemula Medal of Polish Chemical Society, Scientific Honor Award of Japanese Society of Flow Injection Analysis, and Award of Polish Minister of Science & High Education for Lifetime Achievements in Science. Member of advisory boards of 6 international analytical journals and for 15 years Scientific Secretary of Committee on Analytical Chemistry of Polish Academy of Sciences.
